Here’s an article by the Forest Hills Patch about a program currently running at the Central Queens YM & YWCA:

Everybody Is A Champion at Karate Kids

Karate Kids is a one-hour program that pairs volunteers, social workers and martial arts teachers with autistic children, from 5- to 11-years old. The Central Queens Y is now providing “sports situations” for children who can’t participate in community sports programs due to autism, as well as “building community awareness to special needs.”
